As a Power Platform user, you know the importance of having sample data in your default tables such as Accounts and Contacts. Having sample data helps you avoid the time-consuming process of adding records manually and provides you with a foundation to work on while testing and developing your applications.

In this blog post, we will walk you through the process of installing sample data in Dataverse tables. Let’s get started.

Step 1: Navigate to Power Platform Admin Center

The first step is to navigate to the Power Platform Admin Center by visiting the URL https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/.

Step 2: Open the Environment Settings

Once you are in the Power Platform Admin Center, click on the “Environments” tab. Then, select the environment you want to install the sample data on and open its settings.

Step 3: Expand Data Management and click on Sample Data

Under the environment settings, expand the “Data Management” section and click on “Sample Data”. This will redirect you to a page that shows the installation status of the sample data in your database.

Step 4: Install Sample Data

If the sample data has not been installed in your database, you will see an option to install it. Simply click on “Install Sample Data” to start the installation process. The time taken for the installation to complete may vary depending on your internet speed.

Step 5: Check the Installation Status

After starting the installation, you may need to refresh the page to see the status update. If the installation was successful, you will see a message confirming that the sample data has been installed.

Step 6: Refresh the Contact Table

Finally, go back to the Contact table and refresh it to see the sample data added. You can also check the other tables to see if they have been updated with sample data.
